1915 February.

[continued from previous page] is postponed for tomorrow. Also office meeting to consider Zona Gales offer of making "L&L" a dept of "Survey". Miss Hoban took me to gynnasium in Turner Hall from 8 to 9.15 Letter from D. but didn't open.

Thurs. 4 At 10.30 a number of us went to see S. Gompers at Mollison Hotel. Thence to meeting in office. Wrote letters & went to Dr Van H. with eye. In evening we had dinner at Hearth & went to hear Mrs Havelock Ellis. Met Mrs Muther, Editha's friend.

Fri. 5 Got down at 9.30. Lunch with Miss G. at Hearth & went to singing lesson. Pottered in office ineffectually. Miss G. Editha & I had dinner at Hearth. I walked home alone. Thawing. practised a little.

Sat. 6 Walked down in snow. In afternoon Miss G & I went to see Miss Browne. Dinner with Editha at Hearth and went to Thomas Concert. Met Arnold Dresden & Mrs Maynard there. Getting a bit colder.

February. 1915 Sun. 7 Cold day. Went to store for supplies in morning. Worked & practised. At 5.30 Editha came & we had supper & a pleasant evening together.

Mon. 8 Got down early. Office meeting at 2. Miss Henry spoke up to Mrs Robins & I tried to protect Miss Galvin a little. She went to dinner with me at Hearth. Editha also there. I fooled around with her wasting time.

Tues. 9 Mrs Robins came in. Ethel & I had lunch at Fields with Julia Armstrong. Went to bank. Dinner at Hearth with Editha & went to hear C. Pankhurst & walked home together. Christabel terrible. Mrs Bishop gave us tickets.

Wed. 10 Mrs Robins came in & we worked on letter. Miss Gal. & I had lunch at Hearth. Bill made a long call. Wanted my advice on whether he shd. confess his sins of marital ommission & [continued on next page]

[continued from previous page] commission. Dinner at Hearth with E. Phelps. Home & practised & to gym on Clark St. with Jeanette Hoban. Warm day.

Thurs. 11 Walked into town. All afternoon with a "Life & Labor" meeting. Dinner with Editha & Miss G. at Hearth & walked home. Very irritated & sick went to bed immediately.

Fri. 12 Stayed in bed till 10. Went to office & managed to hold out till 5. Went to Hearth & crawled home in the drizzle & went to bed. on the up-grade tho.

Sat. 13 Got down but feeling shaky. Lunch with Ethel at Hearth. Got in good day's work. Dinner with Editha & Miss G. at H. & walked home with Editha. Queer missive from D.

February 1915 Sun. 14 Went to League meeting at 4 to hear F. P. Walsh. Thence Mrs Muther Miss H. Editha & I went to art Inst. for supper. E. & I came home & I cooked her an egg. Depressed & unhappy.

Mon. 15 Got down at 10. Miss Galvin took me to lunch at Hearth. Pottered & did some work. Dinner at Hearth with Miss Phelps & Miss H. & walked home alone. Cold wind blowing glad of fur coat.

Tues. 16 Feeling very depressed with grip. Wm B. made a long call. Also Mrs Robins. In evening Miss G. & Editha & I & Mr Crump had dinner at Hearth. Editha & I walked home after.

Wed. 17 Feeling better. Got cough prescription filled. Ethel & I had lunch at Hearth. Editha & her beautiful Josephine & I had dinner at Hearth & then went to look at Little Theatre & then went to Alice in [continued on next page]

[continued from previous page] Wonderland & home together Wm B. called during day - Mrs Robins did not come in nor Miss Galvin.

Thurs. 18 Feeling all right again. Wm B. came in to say goodbye previous to going to California. Ethel & I had lunch at Hearth. Did nothing all day practically. Dinner at Hearth Alone & walked home. Got an idea for a story. S. Boynton walked home with me.

Fri. 19 Pottered in office. Mrs R. came in and abused us spreading sickening disharmony. Editha & Mr Crump, Miss H & I had dinner at Hearth Walked home alone

Sat. 20 Pottered in office. Frightful day of grievous depression. Had dinner with Editha & walked home. Felt too depressed to live. Read a book of Jack London's
