Fine bright day, growing chilly. Mrs Bennetts in to phone. Pixie telephoned repeating her cheer. May B. rang asking me to go there. I read J.K. Ewers' : "For Heroes to live in" - utterly dull, full of clichés - not one beautiful sentence - The essence of pedestrian mediocrity. Started on final touches to essay, but no strength. must try again tomorrow. Set 3 rows of butter beans.
