Grey day. Cleaned sitting room & was plagued to find the back of the grate had fallen out. Fixed in a piece of tin - don't know if it will serve. Then went to town to newsreel and to shops and home before 4, had a cup of tea & lay down exhausted. Glen rang up in evening. Tom Challoner wants to sketch me for his exhibition - ordeal.
