till John came in
evening. Mrs Oliver also
called. Oh the
misery of English houses.

Cold grey day. Fire in office. Got
home early & went to bed & read
Esmond.

8 Tues
Cold & grey. Leslie Morgan & I went
to look at Oliver machine & Australia
Hse etc. Fred called up saying
he wd. meet me tomorrow night.
Johnson from Australia called.
John & I went to Iris 1st time in England at Covent
Garden - Sheridan in title role

9 Wed
Fine day but fire in office.
Fred rang up but I put him off till
Friday. Got home early. Read
"The Young Visiters" aloud to Miss
Newcomb & Greta & had a
rare treat.
