but still perishing in these
ghastly abominable houses.
Writers day in office.
Took Mrs Aldridge home
with me & had dinner
in my room. Told
her some of Mr A's
capers - gambling, etc.
She saw Mr Elgood
during afternoon and
thought he had told her
all. Saw he had not
done so by long chalks.
