we had no one in the afternoon perhaps
owing to the dust storm. Mr. Roberts gave
them an address in the eve'g.
Julia complains of illness, and stays in bed. but
we fear its chiefly her [underlined] temper [end underlined] thats ailing because
she has not got a place "yet. I cannot [underlined] make [end underlined] places

Monday 17th
The outfits for Julia Oshen, Kate Lee
and M. Jane Fitzroy purchased today.
Mr. Cormer (Bush Missionary) came by invitation to
address the inmates. Miss Danne spent an hour
reading and conversing with them altho it was such a
stormy eve'g.

Tuesday 18th
Lady Young paid us a visit. the Matron
took the liberty to ask, if she would please to give
us the "Band of Hope" as there were such beautiful
tales, and trite little sayings in it, so attractive
to the young and edifying to all. The Lady ship very
kindly consented, also promised to send something
nice for xmas day. and said she would bring
Lady Bower to see us, but could not tell when.
So we intend making use of this [underlined] expected [end underlined] visit
as a spur, and an indictment to get the inmates to work
more in the garden. Sent Ronnie with the widths
of good flannel for her outfit petticoat, to Julia, she
sent back to ask "for 1/2 width more that it was hardly wide
enough for a child" - told Annie to make it and I would shew [show] it to the ladies.
