Wednesday
Went to the P.N.Z & ARMC's office to ask would
they please to send the "Maraura" up] 2nd lot [end sup] washing as soon
as possible, for when its left so late it causes hurry and
confusion. Mr. Hill promised "to see about it"-

Thursday 20th
Eliz'th Carter and Eliz'th Johnson ( a half
caste) made their escape about 1/2 past 5 oclk
this morn'g - sent to the police station
a disruption of the girls. and went to E Carter's
house, to let her parents know. her poor Mother
was greatly distressed. I was afraid she would fall down
she trembled so.

Friday 21st
E. Carter's Father called last night, to enquire if
we had heard anything of her. said he had been
to all the stations, and intended walking about the
streets till 12 oclk in hopes to find her.
Sent Miss Galbraith to Mrs. Capp's labor office
with M. Jane Fitzroy and Kate Lee to try for
situations. Julia was ask'd yesterday to go with the Matron,
but she said she was "not well enough"-
The two Misses Baptiste called to ask if we "would like
any change from what their papa sent formerly for a Xmas
treat "Miss Wright said she would take holiday untill [until] next monday week.

Saturday 22nd
The Mataura's washing was brought this
morn'g (5053 pieces)
Mrs. Hay brought us a basket full of vegetables
(from their own garden)" for the Xmas dinner."
Julia's brown dress is finished, and when she tried it on,
she said "it's too short."
