Tuesday25th
And after foraging &c she presented
several of the most deserving, with books.
I sent Julia O'Shea in charge of Miss Galbraith to Mrs Capp's,
yesterday. she engaged to Mr. Smith. Manly Beach
as Cook & Laundry 10/ pr. week, and altho she had fretted
so much about "[underlined] having to stop in this place" [end underlined], she sent one of her fellow inmates to ask if I would let her stay till tomorrow," O no, I replied the engagement [underlined] must [end underlined] be kept.

Wednesday 26th
Ester's brothers brought a
message from her Mother, asking
us to let his sister go home, he was told
to come 3 oclk friday to the general com't.
Mr. Roberts took Julia to the steamer 5 oclk last
eve'g. poor Julia she is very clever - if she only had the grace
of God in heart, she would be a useful member of society.
Sent a note to the Panama Steamer's office telling that
the washing was finished, and ready to be taken away.

Thursday 27th
Annie Grant is engaged to go
to Mr. Lanarch "Rosemond nr. Singleton,
as cook and laundress. 9/" pr week,
for 12 months. The Steamer dont leave
till 12 oclk at night, so Mr. Roberts took her &
(Betsy McMahon to help carry her box)
Annie has made repeated promises to be faithfull in
her situation. she has signed the temperance pledge
& she expressed herself thankfull for all that the ladies
have done for her. told her, her gratitude would
best [sup] be known as [end sup] good conduct in future. that if she did well the ladies would rejoice and be encouraged in their
labor of love.
