Sabbath. Mr Johnston. Mr Robins and Mr W. Ayton held services today. the inmates are tolerably quiet - but shew [show] such apathy and distaste for reading good book, that its quite painfull [painful].

18th.

Teusday [tuesday].
19th Received a letter from Elizth. Cooper. she still continues in the situation that she went to from here, 7 months ago and seems cheerful and happy. Susan Downs expresses deep sorrow and disgust with her past life. we hope she is sincere - but she is very poorly - and we fear least she only wants to be nursed - the ladies have consented to her stayg on trial.
Wednesday.
20th Elizth McGill continues shamefully idle it seems she is wasted and grounded in wickedness and debauchery. although when brought here in charge of a Policeman she declared that she was never in bad company untill [until] the police caught her near a dancg. room just [underscored] as a young man put his arm round her neck. I find, however that she has the dispose. [underscored]
