May 6th. Monday.

Eliz'th Graham is to be cook
for a month. on trial. Harriet
not being able to prepare the meals punctually. and her hands are sore also. she is to hang out clothes. by which she will get
fresh air, I fear she has scurvy in her hands.

Teusday [tuesday] 7th. Took M. Nolan to the Infirmary
after waiting 1½ hours she was admitted.
Misses Armstrong and Mills held a temperance meeting. the girls were greatly interested with their anecdotes.

Wednesday 8th. This fine sun shiny morn'g
has cheered up the girls - and all
are going about their work with double
energy.

Thursday 9th. Eliza Bruce and her Sister Ester
are continually at variance, I am
often at my wits end, to know what to do or
how to manage them. they both well deserve
putting in solitary confinement. for kindness seems
thrown away upon them.
