July 2nd Tuesday
I went yesterday on board The "Rokaia"
to ask if they could let us have the blankets today.
That we might get them dried whilst the weather
permitted. Received a list of names from Mr. Ayton
of men who were willing to conduct service at the
Refuge at stated times.

Wednesday 3rd
Several of the girls cried when they heard of
the distress caused by the floods, and wished they
could do something. Mrs Hay very kindly responded to their
wish and brought 35 yds Flannel to be made into petticoats
which they volunteered "to make in overtime." Mrs Graham
has also sent shimies (20) I have not seen them so pleased
with anything they had to do before, they were singing and sewing till 1/2 past 9 oclk.

Thursday 4
the SS "Rakaia" was brought yesterday. if this
beautiful weather lasts, we shall soon have it
finished, there being so many inmates in that can
wash. All the blankets (236) are washed and
dried already.

Friday 5th
The "Mother" Good Shepherd sent her compliments
this morn'g and wished to know if Kate Barry was
here. Ladies General Com't
received a message from Annie Grant, she is in the Infirmary.

Saturday 6th
I went this morn'g to Panama office and
received payment for "S. S Ruahine" washing (36.3.3)
we have had a gardener 3 days this week. I sent a
note to Lady Young this morn'g to ask for vines, and
plants. The messenger brought back a great
variety in a Clothes basket. wrote an order for
18 pairs boots for the laundresses.
