April 21st to do as she was desired.
Revd. Mr. Bode held an Evening Service

22nd. Mrs. Cowper called. The Inspector
General of Police Sent one of the Police
to speak to me about the Intercourse that -
I am told takes place in the garden between
the Inmates and some of the men he
denied the possibility of such a thing
and asked how the women could get on
the Roof of the Cottage as he had seen
one there not long since when she asked
to be given some tobacco, it would have
been well for him to have come at the
time and given us the information of
the fact. Californian ship wash brought
in yesterday and to-day the weather
is too wet to touch them[preceding word crossed out] it.

23rd. After morning prayer this morning
Miss Holland complained to me of the
indecent songs the Inmates sung last
evening whilst she sat with them, they
all denied that they had sung anything
improper and became very excited
they are naturally very excitable and
the least thing upsets them.

The continued wet weather has caused
all the washing to be late this week
so that very few things have been sent
home. The ship washing cannot be
touched until Monday.
Mrs Maunder Jones visited -
No Stove come as promised for the Ironing Room
