The Senate have received your Message respecting the election of [illegible] to Congress & will concur with the Same if you will amend it [beg?] Strikeing out the words "for four years," & inserting the following words in lieu thence of, viz after the word "member" insert the words "to succeed Mr. Jackson for the balance of time for which he was elected", & ask your concurrence
