Most Excellent Sir,

The increasing commercial
prosperity of our City, and the rapidity with
which strangers, of whom many from the
State of Tennessee, are acquiring residence
in our midst, together with the fact that
there is no Commissioner appointed by your
Honored State to reside in the City of La fay-
ette
, will, I trust, warrant the liberty taken
to solicit at the hands of Your Excellency the appoint-
ment of "Commissioner of Deed, &c. to reside in the City
of La fayette, La. - Trusting that such an Office may
prove of general Convenience in Judicial matters, I
hope my request may find favor; and I
