Sir
I have the honor to enclose to your Excy. the resignation of 1st Lt. W.W. Marshall (5 Reg of Tenns. Vols)& The Com dy Genl. asks that the same be accepted from this date; other -wise it will be necessary that Lt Marshall join his (? regt.) which it seems He is unable to do. Upon the presumption that his resignation would be accepted authority has been granted him to return to the state.
