Dear Sir

Enclosed you will find a letter
from Chas D Drake Esqr of Cincinnatti a personal
friend of mine, who is desirous to procure
for his brother-in-law Alex. W. McGaffey of
that city, the appointment of Commissioner
of Deeds for the state of Tennessee. From
my knowledge of Mr Drake I am satisfied
that he would not ask or desire the
appointment of any one who was not
in every way qualified and worthy of the
office. Mr Drake is a good and true
Whig, one who has done important service
for the cause. If you should find
it convenient to make the appointment
and by so doing you will oblige
