After an introduction myself by some
Tennessee friends I will take the liberty of earnestly
recommending the appointment of Mr.
Smith of this place Commissioner for
Ten. Mr. Smith is a modest unassuming
man punctual & faithful in business, and
bears the Character of a man of the
strictest integrity. His politics are not
objectionable to you and [how?] he is highly
respected by his oponents.
Governor Jones & many others with whom
I became acquainted in the memorable Cam
paign of 44. Can inform you who I am
My residence is Columbus Ohio but
having business in Phila have been thrown
in with Mr Smith I take pleasure in
recommending him_
