His Excellency N. S. Brown
Dear Sir
My healthis not restored & I therefore certify that I am so unwell that in all probability I will not be able to hold the next Term of the Circuit Court of Decatur County,I therefore desire that you will appoint Micajah Bullock to hold the next Term of that court commencing on the 3rd monday in March 1848. I have appointed a special term of that court commencing the 2nd Monday, so that I desire you to make the appointment & forward it to me immediately that I can receive before the 2nd Sunday. I wish the Commission included to me so that I can send it to Major Bullock should I not be able to hold that court at the regular term. The variable temp of the weather affects my health seriously, & prevents recovery
Yours Respectfully &tc James Scott Judge 14th Circuit Tene
Commission (noted?) and sent 13th of March 1848
