To His Excellency A V Brown Governor of Tennessee Sir,

I hereby, respectfully, resign the office of Quarter Master Genl. of the State.

I [illegible], by this time all the business a [illegible] with the late movement of volunteers(?) from East Tennesee, is [illegible] so far, at last, as to [illegible] not further official action from [illegible], and other surrounding [illegible], as well as the fact of holding an office another [illegible] of the States' Service indicate the [illegible] of my resigna tion. Please accept the [illegible] with the assurances of the [illegible]
