At a meeting of the Directors of the Shelbyville and
McMinnville central Turnpike company held on the 16th
day of October 1838 at the offie of [illegible] [Frierson?] in the
[Town?] of Shelbyville, present James L. Armstrong, John
Eakin, William L. Long, Mat Martin, J Smith [illegible]
Andrew Maxwell and [illegible] [Frierson?]
On motion the Board proceeded to elect a President
and Secretary by ballot and on counting the votes James
L. Armstrong was unanimously elected President and E. [S?].
[Frierson?] Secretary
I certify that the foregoing is a true copy from the
minutes of the Board of Directors of the Shelbyville and
McMinnville central Turnpike company. Given under my
hand this 19th day of Nov A.D. 1838

Above, you will discover the organization of the Board
of Directors of the Shelbyville + MicMinnville central turnpike
road. You will also receive herewith the certificate of the
election of Directors under the inspection of William Galbreath
an acting justice of the peace for Bedford County.
Believing that thus far, all the requisitions of the law have
been complied with, you are respectfully requested to appoint
Directors (with a little delay as convenient) on behalf of the State,
to cooperate with us in our] future action.
