Nashville T Octr. 13th 1823.
To his Excellency William Carrol
Sir,
Intending to resign the seat which I occupy,
on the bench of the court of Appeals before
the next regular session of the General
assembly, I have thought it was my duty
to make that resignation during the pre=
=sent session, that the legislature may
fill the vacancy, if they shall judge
it best to do so. You will therefore
please to accept this as my resignation
of the office of Judge of the court
of Appeals, and notify the legislature
thereof immediately.
There would probably be but little
use in detailing to your excellency
the reasons which have induced me
to resign, I shall therefore forbear
attempting it - If the legislature
