Fayetteville Tennessee March 3.d 1827
Governor Carroll
I tender to you my resignation of the
appointment of attorney General for the eighth Soli
citorial district, and inclose the commission confer
ing that appointment, From it I have derived
substantial benefits. A constitution already much
impaired by disease, and declining health alone
induce me to surrender it at this time. I am
truly greatful to the legislature for the office to
which that body had the godness to elect me,
and I tender to you sir my most sincere
acknowledgments for the interest you were
pleased to take in promoting my election,
and I trust (should occasion offer), that I
shall not be wanting in the manifestation
of a due sense of your kindness. I have
given the members of the bar in this district
due and timely notice of my intention to
resign. The first court in the district will be the
circuit court holden at this place on the
third monday in this month.
Very Respectfully yr.
