Winchester 31st Decr 1830 -

Sir understanding that Mr Rogers in-
-tends resigning his appointmnet as soli-
citer [sic] general, and that Bromfield
L. Ridley
Esquire of McMinnville in-
tends becoming an applicant for the
situation,- I take great pleasure
in saying to you, that I am acquainted
with Mr Ridley and consider him
as a gentleman of the most unim-
peachable integrity -& Honor, and
that, both as a Lawyer, and as a
man of general intelligence, he
deserves to rank among the foremost
of his age. - I have no doubt but
that the publick [sic] interest would be
promoted by his appointment; - and
in bestowing it on him, you would
greatly gratify.
