Dear Sir,

Inclosed [sic] you have the resignation of
W^m Martin Esq^r Attorney General of the 8^th Solicito-
-rial district- I presume it will not be proper
to appoint a successor before the 28^th of Jan.^y-
next, the time mentioned in his letter - I shall
