Should you see proper to confer the
appointment upon Major Terrill, I am satis
=fied you could not have bestowed it on
a more worth & deserving object, or one who
would ^feel under deeper obligations, or entertain
a greater sense of gratitude; he is now
poor, and from the purchase of his print

in his primary affairs, and I believe, with
the [?] of the appointment, he will
be enabled to support his family, and
retain his printing office, which other
=wise I fear will have to pass into other
hands, for I know there is a strong disposit
=ion to obtain his office for the purpose
of supporting different principles [& men?]
from those now supported by its propriators
and you know, that this part of the district
^is composed in a great degree of Ky & [?]
