by us that while we make this [copresentation?], we are the
advocates of indiscriminate pardon; but on the contrary
that we are pressing a case, which would be embraced
by the soundest principles by which that power could
be exercised. With this short statement we submit this
unfortunate man to the sound discretion of your Excellency.
