Dear sir
on the 15th of March next my
Brother H. W. Dunlap will resign his
office of attorney General. at wich -
time Mjor D. S. Jennings will be an
applicant for the pro tem appointm
-ent, in justice to Mjor Jennings I
will say, from my long acquaintance
with him that he is in euery respect
competant to the discharge of the duties
of the office, I am pursuaded that in
point of legal qualification he will
stand inferior to none that can app
-ly in the District from its first settlem
-ent, if you should think proper to
confer on him the appointment
of atto Gen the State will doubtless
be ably represented. The people are
desireous here that the appointment
