Sparta July 10th 1828.
Gov Houston, At the request of Mr George
Broils, who has been found guilty under the act
of Assembly, for stabbing Matthew G Moore,
I freely state that I witnessed the trial as a
Spectator. And would gladly see him releived,
from any part of his punishment, in the scope
of Executive Clemency. I intended seeing you
with the envied Hero, at Carthage, but a Celebra
=tion (in miniature) was got up here at which a
few of us attended: and closed with a splendid Ball.
I should like to see the Editorial matter of the
sparta Review of this day looked at in Nashville.
Shew it to Judge Overton if you please. Judge Williams
Caricatures him bowing before Nat in behalf of
Burr.
I have the Honor to be
Your obt Servant
Nathan Haggard
