Sir,
I have the honor to enclose to you, on this [sheet?], a certified copy of resolutions [illegible] State on the subject of the annexation of the Republic of Texas to the United States - And in compliance therewith, [present you?] respectfully [illegible] your Excellency the same before the Legislature of the State of Tennessee.

Resolutions TO CONGRESS, IN RELATION TO THE ANNEXATION OF TEXAS TO THE UNITED STATES. Resolved by the Legislature of the State of Mississippi, That our Senators in Congress be instructed, and our Representatived requested, to use their best exertions to procure the annexation of Texas to the United States, and that the same constitute one or more soverign States of this Union. Be it further resolved, That his Excellency, the Governor, be requested to forward to each of our Senators, and Representatives in Congress, a copy of these resolutions, and to the Governors of the several States, with a request that the same be laid before the Legislatures of several States.
