Robert P. Curren & Andrew Campbell esquires

Gentlemen your esteemed favor of 24th ult came to hand on 3d Inst, which is duly acknowledged as the notice alluded to in in the law authorising your Bank, and will be laid before the Legislature- to whom I will recommend a review of the act which does not asignate from whence the money shall be drawn to meet the engagements in the Bank provided the stock was Subscribed for. I beg leave to refer you to the act from which I presume, you will scarcely be able to perceive, how I could be autho =rised to become a Subscriber in behalf of the State- for my self I am fully persuaded that the exercise of such a power under

all circumstances would be inconsistant [sic] with my duty to the Citizens of Tennessee as well as unavailing to the institution and more particularly as the Legislature will be in session in a few days-
