Dear sir
The great disproportion, be
=tween the pay & duties of a circuit
Judge under the laws of the state
of Tennessee, compels me to abandon
the toils of the office, & resort to other
means, for the support of my family.
I therefore send you my
resignation, in order that the burdens
may be bourn, by some person, whose
circumstances, will render a smaller
sacrafice necessary upon the altar
of the public than I have made
yours with Esteem &c
His Excy
Joseph McMinn
