Sir,

Owing to the removal of the seat
of Government from Nashville, it will
be inconvenient to perform the duties of
Adjutant General of the state of Tennessee
any longer; I therefore resign that appoint
=ment.

Permit me to thank your Excellency
for the favourable sentiments which you
have always manifested for me and
to offer you the salutations [page damaged]
my Friendship.
