of the Resolution of the Senate, referred to, in the foregoing letter
In Senate of the United States
January 14th 1819.
Resolved that the President of the
United States be requested to institute
a negotiation with the Chickasaw Tribe
of Indians, for the Cession of a Tract
of land, four miles square, including
a salt spring reserved to said Tribe
by the 4th article of a Treaty concluded
with said nation on the nineteenth
day of October 1818: said Cession, when
made shall be for the benifit [sic] of the
State of Tennessee, on said state
paying the expense of holding said
Treaty
