McMinnville July 8th 1819-
Dear Govrnor [sic], The duty of Confering [sic] a
temporary appointment on some Lawyer in this
District to fill the vacancy occasioned by
Mr Campbell's resignation, Devolves on you,
Permit me to inform you that, if appointed
to that office, My utmost exertions shall
be used to Honor your appointment-
I flatter myself that if you knew how
often in Mr Campbell's absence, I have
accepted appointments to prevent the state
from being unrepresented, & as to general
satisfaction &c I should meet with that honor
I am Yours Sincerely
