Winchester Tennessee July 9^th 1819

D^r Sir

Thomas J Campbell Esq^r has
resigned his appointment of Solicitor for the
5^th Solicitorial District; And the place having to be
filled by your appointment untill [sic] another
can be regularly appointed by the Legislature
I hereby make application to your excellency
for the appointment. Our acquaintance is
very limited you will therefore have to get
information from other persons of my moral
and legal character; Joshua Haschad of
Murfreesborough has been acquainted with me
for several years and can inform you as to
those points, other applications in all probability
will be made.
