Sir

I wrote you two letters from warren
last week on the subject of a pro tem appointment
of Solicitor. since the writing of those Letters an applicati
=on has been made to me by Mr Nathan Haggard
to write you on the subject, and though it is my
strong view that Mr Moore should receive tht
appointment I think it due from me to any Gentle
-man who is an applicant that I should state to
you my opinion of him. I was Solicitor for the
third Judicial District for some time myself. but it
being large I employed Mr Haggard to prosecute
in several Counties. I heard no complaint as to
his prosecuting during that time. I have not practiced
much with Mr Haggard but believe if he receive
the appointment he will use his best exertions to discharge
well the duties of his office very respectfully
