Friday Jany 8^th 1819.

M^r Williams of Tennessee submitted
the following resolution, Resolved
the President of the United States
be requested to institute a
negotiation with the Chickasaw
tribe of Indians for the cession of
a tract of land four miles square
including a salt spring reserved
to said the tribe by the 4^th article
of a treaty concluded on the
19^th day of October 1818. said Cession
when made shall be for the
benefit of the state of Tennessee
on said state paying the expence
of holding said treaty -
