Murfreesborough 28th June 1820
The Joint committee, to whom was referred so much of the Gover=
nors message as relates to the embarrassed condition, and pri=
mary distresses of the citizens of the state, and proposing
a remedy therefore
have had the same under consederation [sic]
and beg leave to report that they have in part discharged
the duties assigned them, in adopting the following
resolutions
1st Resolved, that it is at present inexpedient to pass
any Law or laws, to prevent or postpone, the collection
of debts.
2nd Resolved, that a Law preventing the sale of a debtors
property, unless it shall sell for a certain proportion of
its valuation, would at this time be inexpedient
and unpolitic, and therefore ought not to be passed
