Murfreesborough 28^th June 1820

The Joint committee, to whom was referred so much of the Gover=
nors message as relates to the embarrassed condition, and pri=
mary distresses of the citizens of the state, and proposing
a remedy therefore

have had the same under consederation [sic]
and beg leave to report that they have in part discharged
the duties assigned them, in adopting the following
resolutions

1^st Resolved, that it is at present inexpedient to pass
any Law or laws, to prevent or postpone, the collection
of debts.

2^nd Resolved, that a Law preventing the sale of a debtors
property, unless it shall sell for a certain proportion of
its valuation, would at this time be inexpedient
and unpolitic, and therefore ought not to be passed
