Vernon August 28th 1820.

To his Excellency Joseph McMinn,

Sir, This is to inform
you that for many good considerations, I have and do
hereby resign my appointment of Solicitor General
for the 12th Solicitorial District for thos State conferred upon
me at the last States General Assembly in 1819. Which
District consists of the Counties of Hickman, Wayne
Hardin and Perry.-

I remain with sentiments of esteem yours

His Excellency
Joseph McMinn Govenor &c.

N.B. I think it would be admirable for your
Excellency to fill this vacancy immediately
as there are several criminals that ought to
be tryed [sic] at our ensuing court
