Dear Sir,

Mr James Scott of Vernon wishes as he informs me the
appointment of Soliciter [sic] in the room of Mr Mcmeans who
he informs me has resighned, he read Law in this
place and obtained a licence [sic] not very long since I
had always entertained an opinion that he was a young
of good mind and possesed an energy and industry
that would ensure him a respectable standing at
the bar I expect he has as well matured what
he has read as most young men of his age
and beleive [sic] as Solicitor would do as mutch [sic] justice
as most men of his age and experience in
the Country indeed I have no acquaintance with
any young man in that section of the Country
that I should as well depend on as Solicitor as
Mr Scott.

with sentaments [sic] of
respect I beg to remain
your obt servt
