To his Excellency Joseph McMinn.
Governor of Tennessee State.

The undersigned respect=
fully represent, that John Fry a free
man of colour, has been tried at the
present term of the Circuit Court of Da-
=vidson county; and convicted of horse stealing
- sentenced to branding whiping [sic] and impris=
=onment. Your petitioners therefore pray
that said Fry may be released from
imprisonment;- The reason is inclement or
will soon be so. The county at this time is
two years in arrear, with demands already
in existence -
