Dear Sir,

I rec.^d yours of Feb. last
with its inclosures, of $24; and
that of a subsequent date.
The money was disposed of with
great difficulty and at fifty
per cent below par. But,
I was not certain, until lately,
but that I should be
obliged to return the notes-
Hence it was, that I did
not acknowledge the re-
