was convinced of my inocence [sic] is a great measure
in taking life, but that It was accidentally done
and when in a state of desperation almost
It is the first time sir I that ever I was brought
to justice by the laws of my country or that I
commited a crime to be brought there
Shurely [sic] the loss of the decd I regret more than
any other man can Serious reflection have
during my confinement brought me to mediate on
the importance of the thing, but I cant recall it
This I may say it will ever stand [?caution] to me
and shall be one during my life - I hope and will
endeaver [sic] to make this the last crime of the kind or
of any other description so far as in my power be
and with a firm reliance on my good conduct-
for the subsequent part of life I hope and pray your
Excellency will extend your mercy to me and yr hum
servant will ever pray
