Pleas at the court house in Nashville in the State of Tennessee and County of Davidson before the Honorable Jacob C Isacks Esqr one of the Judges of the Circuit Courts for the State aforesaid on the first Monday being the 2.d day of November in the year of our Lord 1818 and of the Independence of the United States the forty third

The State vs Tyre D Green Ind.t for horse stealing

Be it remembered that heretofore to wit on Wednesday November 4th this present Term at Nashville in the State of Tennessee and County of Davidson by the oath of twelve jurors honest and lawful men of the State and County aforesaid then and there elected empannelled [sic] charged and sworn to enquire for the body of the County aforesaid upon their oath present and say that Tyree D Green of said County labourer on the 8th day of September in the year of our Lord 1818 in the County aforesaid with force and arms a certain gray mare of the value of fifty dollars current money of the State of Tennessee of the proper goods and [?] of Frances Farmer feloniously did steal take and carry away to the great damage of the said Frances Farmer. to the evil example of all

others contrary to the force of the statute in such case made and provided against the peace and dignity of the State Thos. Washington Attorney General of the 7th district in said state

And the said Tyree D Greene was led to the bar in custody of the Sheriff of Davidson County and thereupon being charged pleaded not guilty to the Indictment aforesaid and for his trial put himself upon the Country and the Solicitor General for the State likewise. Whereupon came a jury of good and lawful men to wit David Vaughn. Edmund Owen Wilson Williams. Jacob Dickerson, Thomas Hopper Absolom Page. George McNeill, Thomas Deaderick Greenwood Payne, Andrew Morrison, Wm Harris and Benjm P. Person who being elected tried and sworn the truth of and upon the premises to speak and having tried the evidence on their oath do say that the said Tyree D Greene is guilty of the horse stealing in manner and form as in the Indictment aforesaid [a?] commend the said Tyree D Greene to the mercy of the Executive - and it being demanded of the said Tyree D Greene if any thing for himself he had or could say why the Court here to judgement of and upon the premises ought not to proceed said he had nothing but what he had before said - Therefore the premises being seen and fully understood - It is considered by the Court that the said Tyree D Greene receive ten lashes on his bare back. that he be brand-

ed on the brawn of the left thumb with the letters H T that he stand in the pillory two hours on the 7th day of January next and two hours on the succeeding day - also that the said Tyree D Green be imprisoned six months from this day - and it is ordered by the Court - And it is ordered by the Court that the Sheriff of Davidson County put this judgment as to the whipping and branding in execution, that is the whipping on the 5th day of January next and the branding on the 8th day of January next - and the said Tyree D Green is remandid to jail. State of Tennessee I Jacob MGavock Clerk of Davidson Circuit Court in the State aforesaid. do hereby certify that the foregoing is a true transcript of the record of the suit The State against Tyree D Green
