To His Excellency Josheph McMinn
Esqr Governor of Tennessee, Honnerable [sic]
Sir your Humble petetionor [sic] begs leave
to inform you that he was commited
to the joal [sic] of Knox County on the 30th
day of July 1817 - under a charge of
horse seeling [sic]. Said to be the property of Mr
William Williams of Jefferson County. Wher
re- he has ben [sic] tryde [sic] and found gilty [sic]
and sentenced by the Honnerable [sic] cort [sic]
to take twenty five lashes and to be
Branded on the pam [sic] of the thum [sic] and
be confind [sic] in joal [sic] six months more
and to be pillered [sic] six hours - your pete
-tionor- begs leave to inform you that the
whiping [sic] was Executed by a large able
boded [sic] man who gave me scars which
will go with me to my grave and the
Branding Executed in the like man
