Gov. McMinn

Sir
On the present occasion
I hope you will allow me to address
altho [sic] I do not intend it shall be frequent
that I will speak on such matters-
Edwin Crawford has been convicted
of murder - the trial I attended with
the utmost attention - and at the conclusion
of it I was induced to sign a petition
addressed to your Excellency - and
now I will say for why I did so - After
hearing all the evidence, I did believe he
was guilty of manslaughter, but not guilty
of murder, as the Law defines, ^it in my estimation
