Citizens of Franklin County would
respectfully represent that at the last
sessions of the county Court, of said
County, Richard Tyson was found
guilty of an assault & Battery upon
the body of one Addams, and
sentenced by the Court to sixty days
imprisonment, and a fine of fifty
dollars & cents. Your pititioners [sic],
from their knowledge of the defen=
=dant & his situation, beg leave to
state that he is a very poor man,
has a wife & several small children
who are dependant on his labour
for sustenance, that should he be
containnd [sic] in prison [a unable?] to
the sentance [sic] of the court, he will
probably loose [sic] the opportunity
of making a crop the present year
and his family would be likely to
so suffer. Besides, they would state
that he is a man of honest character
& general good conduct & as they
are informed, the prosecutor much
