Tuscaloosa Alabama

To His Excellency the Governor of the state of Tennessee

Whereas it appears by the accompanying
Bill of indictment of the Grand Jury for the county
of Marshall, that on the 28th day of March 1838
in the County aforesaid in the state of Alabama.

Jesse Allen
feloniously and wilfully [sic] murdered Graves W.
Steele
in violation of the laws of the state
of Alabama.

And whereas it appears further that
the said Jesse Allen
has fled from justice, and is now in
the state of Tennessee

Now by Virtue of the powers &
authority in me vested by the Constitution and
laws of the state if Alabama; I do demand
of your Excellency that the said Jesse
Allen

be delivered over to Daniel B. Turner
whom I have appointed on the part of
the state of Alabama to receive and Convey
the said Jesse Allen
to the County of Marshall in the state of
Alabama, and deliver him to the Sheriff
