of the State of Tennessee,

The Petition of a number of the Citizens of the
County of Greene most respectfully Showeth - That a
Vacancy having occurrred in the appointment of Leon
Dell Esq^r. a Justice of the Peace, who your Petitioners un=
derstand has resigned, & who has not acted as a a
Magistrate of the Courts for about Six months
past. - We the Subscribers therefore in order
to fill said vacancy & for the benefit of this
[page damaged] Justice beg leave to
recommend [David?] Rice as a Suitable Character
to fill said office - We beg leave only in Favour
of M^r. Rice Y^r Excelly to the recommen=
dation of said Rice presented at the last Session of the
Legislature
