I herewith transmit to you a copy of an act
of the General Assembly authorizing the Governor
to procure certain documents therein mentioned
I know you feel a disposition to promote the interest
of Tennessee and trust that the important business
of Legislation will not so entirely engross your time
as to prevent you from discharging the additional trust committed
to you by the enclosed appointment.
You will therefore as soon as may be apply
to the Secretary of State and use such means as you
may deem expedient to effect the object contem-
plated in the act, at the smallest expence I entertain
a hope that the Secretary may perhaps have an
abstract made, of the quantity of lands entered and
